5 Minute Chocolate Mug Cake

Follow Me on Pinterest
Will loves this super quick, no wait, chocolate cake!
Today was one of those Mondays, you know the kind I'm talking about . . . the ones that call for a little comfort food in the form of chocolate cake? Yah, we've all had days like that! You crave chocolate cake, and it's gotta be quick!

There are times when single serve cake is the perfect way to go!

  1. It's the quickest!
  2. If you're counting calories, 1 serving doesn't leave a whole cake sitting around to tempt you!
  3. Serve it hot with gooey melted chocolate chips and whipped cream or ice cream on top!
  4. Keep your kitchen cool.
  5. Home alone or just the two of you . . . Make a couple Chocolate Mug Cakes!
5 minute CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

You will need: 1 large, deep, coffee mug

1/4 cup flour

1/4 cup sugar

2 tablespoons unsweetened baking cocoa powder

1/8 teaspoon baking powder

Pinch of salt

1 egg

3 tablespoons whole milk or cream

2 tablespoons oil

1 tablespoon chocolate chips

1/8 teaspoon pure vanilla

DIRECTIONS:

  • Add dry ingredients to mug ~ Whisk together for 2 minutes to thoroughly blend and remove any lumps.
  • Next, add egg, milk or cream, oil and vanilla.
  • Stir until all ingredients are thoroughly mixed, making sure there are no pockets of dry ingredients.
  • Add chocolate chips and mix well.
  • Place parchment paper or a couple layers of paper towel on microwave dish before adding mug.
  • Cook mug of cake on HIGH for 3 minutes (my microwave is 1.7 square foot, super powered, 1500 watts, and I cooked our mug cakes for 3 minutes on level 7).
  • Use powdered sugar to lightly sweeten your whipped cream, it will keeps longer and firmer.
  • Let cake cool slightly before serving.
All mixed up and ready for the microwave!

Baked and ready for topping!

Fast "comfort" Food in a cup . . . Moist Chocolate Mug Cake!

I cut this recipe out of our local newspaper, and taped it on the inside of my cupboard door. It's my go to when Will is desperate for something sweet, my "in case of an emergency" recipe, if you will . . . Over at Julie's!!!
